eMine – Experiments

Web Page Segmentation and Role Detection Experiment

In order to evaluate our extended web page segmentation and heuristic role detection algorithms, we have conducted an online survey. During the study, this survey was available at the eMine Evaluation Survey Page. Detailed information on the procedure, material and results of this survey can be found in eMine Deliverable 4, under the publications section.

We would like to thank our participants for their time and effort. Their input is appreciated in improving the proposed method and the knowledge base. We donated 5 TL to Turkish National Committee for UNICEF for each participant who completed the survey. You can access the UNICEF certificate for this donation.

Eye Tracking Experiment

In order to evaluate our eMINE Scanpath Analysis Algorithm, we have conducted an eye tracking study at the University of Manchester and Middle East Technical University Northern Cyprus Campus. Detailed information on the procedure, material and results of this experiment can be found in eMine Deliverable 6, under the publication section. We would like to thank our participants for their time and efforts.

Web Page Transcoding Experiment

After we implemented our transcoding system based on eye tracking, we have also conducted a technical evaluation of the proposed system. These tests included access time comparison with aDesigner, visual comparison with WebPageTest and mobile environment simulation with MobiTest of Akamai. eMine Deliverable 8 presents the details and results of these tests.
