You are being invited to take part in a research study.

Before you decide it is important for you to understand why the research is being done and what it will involve. Please take time to read the following information carefully and discuss it with others if you wish.

Who will conduct the research?

Title of the research.
Automated Prediction of Visual Complexity of Web Pages

Why have I been chosen?
We are inviting anyone who is using the web in their daily life.

What would I be asked to do if I take part?
You will be asked to fill in a short questionnaire about your demographic information and web experience. Next, you will be asked to rate the complexity of the 30 web pages two times in a random order.

What happens to the data collected?
Electronic data will be stored securely in a single secured password - protected place.

How is confidentiality maintained?
Data will be made anonymous (names and any other information that may identify an individual will not be included), so no one will be able to recognize who the data belongs to.

Will I be paid for participating in the research?
You will not be paid for participating in the research. However, for each person that participates in this study, we will donate 5 TL to SOS Children's village in Cyprus for up to 100 participants.

What is the duration of the research?
The study will take about 10 minutes to complete.

What if I change my mind?
It is up to you to decide whether or not to take part. If you decide to take part, you will be asked to sign a consent form. If you decide to take part, you are still free to withdraw at any time without giving a reason and without detriment to yourself.

Will the outcomes of the research be published?
We are planning to publish the outcomes of the research in academic papers. Contact for further information. For further information, please contact either us, conductors of test, or our supervisors, all contact details are given below.

What if something goes wrong?
This study is approved by the Scientific Research and Publication Ethics Board (SRPEB), at Middle East Technical University Northern Cyprus Campus (No: 349433). If a participant wants to make a formal complaint about the conduction of the research, they should contact SRPEB.
